Award winning! UPDATED with more winning….

The iAwards honours companies at the cutting edge of technology innovation and recognises the achievements of home-grown Australian innovators.

We went from a runner up in Victoria to a national winner – we love you Australia!

Since we did the original post below we were invited to the 2015 iAwards Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at  the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. We were nominees in the two categories that we won merit awards for at state level (Victorian), which were; Industrial & Resources and Applications, Tools & Platforms.

.

Now when you come runner up at state level you don’t hold too much hope of winning at a national level and it may be clichéd but we, as a construction software start-up, were honoured to just be there. Even more so when you’re up against, drones, robots, 3D printers etc and some seriously, seriously smart people (the smartest of which were all about 15 years old I might add!).

.

So after the Applications Tools & Platforms category winners and merits were announced without a mention of us I was primed with my smart phone ready to take a photo of our logo on the big screen as the Industrial & Resources category nominees were announced (I’d missed the opportunity previously due to getting my wine topped up).

Then as I was checking and readying my photos to Tweet ‘Just happy to be nominated hashtag, hashtag, hashtag’ we were called out as winners of the Industrial & Resources category. Time stood still for a few seconds before I looked up at the big screen and went ‘Sh*t that’s us!’………

.

All I can say is luckily we didn’t have to make a speech!

We were hugely humbled and in the end bloody proud to be recognised by people outside of construction, especially when up against some incredible Aussie tech.

Hey, I guess we’re doing something right…….

.

We have to give thanks to the iAwards for not only being a fantastic initiative, and more of what Australia needs, but for holding such a fantastic event.

.

Regardless of winning on the night it was one of the best managed awards/event nights I’ve ever attended (and I’ve been to a few). Good food and drink, great entertainment, perfectly managed and with lots of bad dancing by mildly drunk middle aged people at the end. Top night. Looking forward to doing it all again next year.

Awards certainly don’t define us or make us do what we do but they are damn nice to get. So we were honoured to receive not one but two merit recipient awards at the 2015 Victorian iAwards held recently at RMIT.

The key goal of the iAwards is to discover, recognise and reward the ICT innovations that have the potential to, or are already having a positive impact on the community – at home, in the office and on a global scale.

.

The iAwards are judged by the ICT industry, for the industry and provide achievements with public recognition that extends across the ICT sector to government, community and beyond. They are strongly focused on promoting essential relationships between the ICT industry and vertical business sectors in every field to promote the value of our industry where it counts most.

The host of the iAwards, the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), strongly advocates the importance of recognising the innovation and productivity which ICT delivers across all facets of Australian life.

.

The AIIA is the nation’s peak industry body and advocacy group for the ICT industry. AIIA’s goal is to create a world class information, communications & technology industry delivering productivity, innovation & leadership for Australia.  AIIA influences public policy and provides members with programs, tools, advisory services and market intelligence to accelerate their business growth.

We received merits in two categories;

Industrial & Resources

Applications, Tools & Platforms

Check out the boys doing media after receiving the merits, they wouldn’t look out of place at the Oscars!
